drum roll....

Yes, we were fortunate enough to get tickets to see the 9:15 sneak preview of New Moon last night! I won't talk much about it since a lot of you haven't seen it yet, but I loved it! I thought it was much better in quality than Twilight. Of course there are some cheesy moments, but there were a lot of funny ones too! I definitely recommend you see it. If you haven't read the books, do that too.

Lauren and I were talking about how sometimes movies take away your imagination of things you read in the books. These movies definitely removed certain things from our imagination and replaced them with the movie versions. Like we both pictured Edward differently and even Bella's dad's house. Has that happened to anyone else??

Okay, I won't talk about anything else. That way I don't spoil it for anyone who might see it later on!

Thanks Lauren! It was fun:)

traditions...

I love traditions. I'm a very traditional person and I'm always looking for a new idea that we can make a tradition in our family. Either between Ricardo and myself, or in the future when we have children. What are some of the traditions for Thanksgiving and Christmas you have either with your family or your spouse??

We haven't started any of our own for Thanksgiving other than with each of our families. We run the Turkey trot with my dad's family and we do the "say one thing you are thankful for(something that might not be known to everyone) " around the table with my mom's and Ricardo's side. We usually get an ornament from my grandparents.

For Christmas we have started going to pick out one ornament together for our tree, something that may represent a significant event or place in our lives. We also buy ornaments from the places we visit too. We are missing a couple from Pittsburgh and Southfork, CO. We never got around to going to look for one! I might look online and see if I see any.

So what are your traditions?? I'd love to get more ideas!!!

29 Gifts...

This is the book we haven decided to read for our first book in Book Club! 29 Gifts: How a Month of Giving Can Change your Life by Cami Walker.
It seems like a very appropriate book for the season. She was diagnosed with MS and after seeing someone for her depression, was advised to give to others for 29 days. That 29 day challenge was a life changing for her and not only did her happiness improve, her health did as well.
I can't wait to start reading! We had a wonderful first meeting at Starbucks and it was so great to see people from different areas/times in my life. Some I've known since I was little, others I have known since HS or college and some I have only known for a couple of years! I think it will be so fun to reconnect and get to know a little more about their lives!!

it's up....

We got our tree put up late last night!! We had to move our TV to an awkward place, but it's up! Decorating wasn't an option since it was about 11:30, but it seems as though Santa already made a stop! We had two gifts under the tree!

Daisy has always loved sleeping under the tree. She even went back to her "normal" spot. Chloe was quick to follow but Tiger, no where to be found!

We have our first book club meeting tonight!! YAY!

new do...

Hubs left for Austin this morning and I'm about to head off to work. I did re-dye my hair last night and it is D.A.R.K.! I have never had it this dark in my life. I do like it a lot better than what it has been for the past two weeks, but I'm not sure really how I feel about it. I think I like it, but I'll have to let it grow on me!

Don't mind my sleepy eyes. I just woke up! ha also taken with my phone so colors might not be the best. I will try to get a better picture!
Have a great weekend!

Thursday's Thoughts...

~ We got down Christmas decorations last night! Everything is pretty much up except our tree. We have to move some furniture and I think we are going to try something different this year. My dad bought us this tree for Christmas 2 years ago {he knew that I loved big trees and thought it would be a perfect present and boy was he right!} It's perfect in my eyes, but I think my house thinks it's too big. It pretty much takes up every available space in the LR! But I LOVE it!:)

~two weeks from today will be the death of me. It's the eight mile Turkey Trot that we all decided would be a grand idea. It's not looking so good for me! Hope I can crawl to the car and enjoy a little Thanksgiving!

~first book club meeting is on Monday and I couldn't be more excited!

~I have the house to myself on Saturday night and part of Sunday. Hubs is at a bachelor party in Austin. This means I can eat cereal if I want. Sing and dance to loud Christmas music all while being crafty! No, I will miss him but it will be nice to have a little time alone!

~Almost done making Christmas gifts for the SIL and future BIL. two down, 23849854 to go. Now if I can just think of some creative ideas

~Happy Birthday to MIL and SIL this week!!

~hair dying #2 will take place this week. First attempt didn't go so well. Hopefully this time it will be an okay color!

~I hope the cooler weather will return. I'm talking I'd like to see high not get out of the 60's from here on out!

~I need to download some Christmas music from cds to itunes so I can put it on my ipod and phone

~ Happy Thursday!!

better than presents...

Are unsure of what to get loved one's for Christmas this year. Or maybe your family has decided instead of buying gifts, you would give to a good cause or help someone else out in some way or another. You might even do a combination of the two...

Here are a few places where you can give to someone else. Whether it's feeding the hungry, helping sick children receive new hearts, sponsoring a child in need or helping young girls get out of the sex trade industry, your donations will enrich the life of another person. Here are just a few of the many, many organizations that need your help...

PLC Preemptive Love Coalition is an organization who's mission is to help fund heart surgeries for Arab and Kurdish children who would otherwise die. You can donate money, buy tees or even handmade klash shoes to help give these kids a healthy heart~

Love146 is an organization that is working to end child sex slavery and restore it's victims, giving them hope for a positive future. Whether you choose to donate money, send an e-card, or even buy someone a t-shirt, all profits are helping Love146's mission in ending child sex slavery.

Compassion International for $38 a month you can sponsor a child that provides them with food and clean water, doctors visits and medicine, education and the chance to hear and learn about Jesus! You can even buy Compassion items if you can't sponsor a child at the moment. They even give you opportunities to go visit your child. They are actually on a trip to El Salvador right now. I wish funds would have been in place for us to go this year to visit our Roberto, but hopefully the next go around we will be able to!

Three of the many that could use you help and your prayers. Even if you can't donate or sponsor, your prayers and your help spreading the word about these organizations will be so appreciated!
