Countdown to Christmas...

Last night was Countdown to Christmas at Heights. It's always so fun to see women from the church that I don't get to see on a regular basis. Some that I have grown up with in the youth group, others that I've only known for a few years and it's always wonderful to spend time with the women in our family.

We don't usually shop too much. We "window" shop and get ideas for possible gifts and even decorating ideas. One stop we always make is at The Bulgarian Child booth where children from Bulgaria have made nativities. They continue to add pieces to the set, which started off as Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus. I wasn't able to get the wise men and camel this year, but hope I can add them next year. The set is one of my favorites and there is such a special love behind them.

The original pieces. I now have a Shepherd too.

The dinner was wonderful and from one of my all time favs, Cafe Max!!! yummmmm!! If you are in the Richardson area, try it for lunch! You won't regret it!!

The Speaker was Rita Marrow who was absolutely hilarious. She has a special character she plays call Martha Marie. Some of you may have heard her before. She encouraged us to slow it down and remember that Jesus is why we celebrate this season. We are free because of what he gave us! It's wonderful to get a little reminder before the craziness of the holidays begin. I try to remind myself constantly that it's not about the gifts I give or receive. It's not about how we will divide up time with all of our families, which at times can get a little stressful and emotional. It's not about me. It's about celebrating the birth of Christ!

What a wonderful way to kick off the Holidays!

Thankful For: the time I got to spend with my family yesterday! Chatting with friends at church :)

Happy Friday!!

Those are adorable. And thanks for posting about Cafe Maxx. I used to go all the time in High School but somehow forgot all about it afterwards. My mouth just watered at the thought. How did I forget such a wonderful restaurant?! I may have to go this weekend to make up for lost time.
